About PICAF
Pittsburgh Indian Community & Friends (PICAF) was founded in 2014 when Humanitarian Committee Heads of Greater Pittsburgh based organizations - SV Temple, Chinmaya Mission and Hindu Jain Temple and other likeminded individuals came together.
It was decided very early on that this all volunteer non-profit will bring people together across all languages, cultures and religions and give back to the region where we have gone to school, worked, raised children, built businesses and benefited in a variety of ways.
PICAF’s mission remains bringing together the diverse Indian community and their Friends living in the Greater Pittsburgh region and Pittsburgh-Weirton-Steubenville, PA-OH-WV 13 county Combined Statistical Area and giving back to Community in the areas of education, homelessness, education and first responders.

In 2025, the Pittsburgh Indian Community and Friends decided to focus on a single cause: Education going forward for the following reasons:
-
Education is a unique lifetime gift that keeps on giving year after year!
-
You can never take Education away from people
-
The progress any community makes is often built on the foundation of Education
-
What we want for our children is what we want for all children!
-
Education empowers, enlightens and elevates individuals and communities!
PIC5K, a 5 kilometer and 1 kilometer Run & Walk, conducted once a year in North Park was created as a fundraiser to support PICAF’s mission. PICAF is a volunteer based 501(c)(3) organization
